The Fire Officer said the bins at Fearon Hall were too near the building and were a fire hazard. They have to be moved. OMG, I said, what can we do? and immediately called Rotarian Steve: man of mystery, lots of ideas, has white van and can call upon willing labour at the drop of a bag of crisps.
Cometh the day, cometh the TEAM and on Saturday 5 June, the hottest day of 2021 so far, shortly after dawn, the faithful Jubilee Rotarian team arrived at Fearon Hall with tools galore, recycled paving slabs, pre-prepared timbers, powder-coated metalwork and bags of post-mix concrete ready to boldly go.
With a blend of advance planning and on-the-day spontaneity the area was cleared, prepared, slabs laid, posts erected, mesh attached, growing area landscaped and bins re-sited while the sun was still high in the sky. Sustained by non-stop coffee, cake and a super lunch, courtesy of the Café in the Hall, Helen, Rose, Steve and Loughborough Beacon oldie Michael created pure art in the interests of fire safety. Come and take a look for yourself. You will be IMPRESSED 🙂
Thanks to our lovely Rotarians. What a cracking job. Where would be without you!
