Stories of Kindness – a community arts project

by | Sep 1, 2023 | Art in the Hall, Hall News

Fearon Hall is delighted to have been awarded a People Zone Grant to work with residents on the Bell Foundry Estate and surrounding area. Our Artist-Curator Jacqui Gallon will collaborate with Live performance artist, Dr Miffy Ryan; poet and musician, Lauren Foster and other artists. Together, they will use creative activities to explore what kindness means to people living in this neighbourhood. The project will shine a light on acts of kindness and will celebrate stories which have changed people’s lives for the better.

Why kindness?

We have chosen kindness as the theme for this project because of its ability to unlock our shared humanity. Simple acts of kindness, listening to someone’s problems over a cup of tea for example, can start a wave of change. When we are kind, it inspires others to be kind. These small acts of kindness create a ripple effect. Kindness strengthens relationships, develops community and deepens solidarity. It is a cornerstone of our individual and collective mental health.

We will be keeping you up to date on the progress of the project between now and the end of November when it will culminate in a very special event.

We would like to acknowledge and thank Lorna and her colleagues at The Marios Tinenti Centre who have generously offered to support us in this project.
