We’re delighted to announce that we’ve been awarded £499,548 from the National Lottery Community Fund to support the work we do at Fearon Hall.

Here’s the announcement in full:

Fearon Community Association celebrates after receiving £499,548 from the National Lottery to support its vibrant and inclusive community centre.

Local community group, Fearon Community Association (FCA), is celebrating after being awarded £499,548 of National Lottery Community funding to support its activities in the community. The local charity, based at Fearon Hall Community Centre in Loughborough, Leicestershire will use the award over the next four years to continue and expand its work for the benefit of the local community, including supporting and delivering projects and activities that help to reduce loneliness and isolation, increase wellbeing, connect communities with help and support and provide volunteering opportunities.

The funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, which distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest community funder in the UK, will enable FCA to further expand the range of projects and activities delivered from Fearon Hall. These include:

  • The Café in the Hall which provides access to healthy and affordable food
  • Development of more recreational, physical, creative and social activities
  • Access to a range of support, training and volunteering opportunities for people locally
  • Collaboration with local councils, charities and residents to improve education and provide facilities for social welfare
  • Improve the quality of life for local people

Darryl Gough, Chair of Fearon Community Association says “We are extremely grateful for the trust the National Lottery has placed in FCA to continue to deliver the wide range of support offered from Fearon Hall over the next four years. If you have a strong belief in community and a desire to make a difference, then this is an opportunity for you too. If you would like to get involved in supporting the work of the board of trustees, please get in touch.”

Meg Bezzano-Griffiths, Fearon Community Centre Manager, says: “We are delighted that The National Lottery Community Fund continues to recognise the vital role we play in supporting people in the East of Loughborough.  Thanks to the National Lottery players we can help maintain and expand the support we offer to our local community – tackling isolation, improving access to help and supporting wellbeing.”

Emma Ward, Chair of Trustees Charnwood Toy Library says: “I am delighted to hear of the news of the funding for Fearon Community Association. They have welcomed Charnwood Toy Library into the Hall and we are proud to call it home.  It is a really special place bringing communities and support together.”

Leon Garvey, Hall user says: “It’s great news, Fearon Hall is like home to me, the services it provides and the friends I’ve made, it’s really special. To have this money to help it continue is brilliant. I don’t have to worry about my support ending.”
