Fearon Community Association celebrates after receiving £397,969 from the National Lottery to support Activities and Community Development.
Local community group, Fearon Community Association (FCA), is celebrating after being awarded almost £400,000 in National Lottery funding to support its activities in the community. The local charity, based in Loughborough, Leicestershire will use the cash over the next five years to develop its work for the benefit of the local community, including projects and activities that help to reduce loneliness and isolation and increase volunteering opportunities.
Fearon Community Association (FCA) was formed in December 1979 to serve the needs of vulnerable residents and the wider community living in the wards of Lemyngton and Hastings on the East side of Loughborough. In 2009 FCA became a charity and registered as a company limited by guarantee.
The funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, which distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest community funder in the UK, will enable FCA to further expand the range of projects and activities delivered from Fearon Hall, including developing The Café in the Hall to provide access to healthy and affordable food, to continue to provide physical, creative and social activities and developing access to a range of support, training and volunteering opportunities for people locally.

Thanks to the generosity of the National Lottery players we will be able to continue to develop the range of activities and opportunities we provide and stay relevant to the needs of a modern society. We look forward to continuing our work alongside partners to deliver an exciting, vibrant community centre that is the urban village hall in the heart of Loughborough.”
