You Said, We Did: An Update on The Future Fearon Project

Oct 29, 2026

We are pleased to announce that new plans for The Future Fearon Project have been submitted to Charnwood Borough Council.

We have listened carefully to feedback from stakeholders, including local residents, and taken on board concerns about the size, scale and render of the initial design proposals. The revised plans reflect this feedback and represent an important step forward for the project.

So, what has changed?

Working within the existing footprint: All proposed changes will now be contained within the existing footprint of the building.

A rebuilt toilet block: The existing toilet block will be rebuilt as a single-storey structure.

Improved accessibility: A much-needed lift will be installed, providing full access to the upper floor of the Hall.

A reconfigured ballroom: Our much-loved and well-used Ballroom will be thoughtfully reconfigured to accommodate the lift and improve access to the upstairs space.

Improved downstairs facilities: The ground floor will also be reconfigured to enhance the reception area and provide dedicated office and meeting space.

These changes demonstrate our commitment to listening to our community and developing plans that respect the character of the hall while making it more accessible, practical and fit for the future.

As soon as the plans have been accepted onto the planning portal, we will publish the planning application number. We look forward to another round of positive engagement with our stakeholders as The Future Fearon Project progresses.

Improving access to the Hall

Alongside the work on the building itself, the Board of Trustees continues to work with the Community Travel Options and Policy Working Group to develop a fair, sustainable and well-managed approach to accessing the hall.

This work will consider public transport, walking and a small number of parking spaces, helping to ensure that the hall remains accessible to the community in a responsible and sustainable way.

As this work develops, we will share further updates here.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share their views and help shape The Future Fearon Project. Your feedback matters, and we remain committed to keeping our community informed and involved as the plans move forward.
