Volunteers – we need you!

by | Feb 9, 2024 | Hall News, Volunteering

We’re looking for community minded people to join our volunteering team at Fearon Hall. We’ve got a variety of roles to fill, and you don’t require any previous experience. You just need to be prepared to make some great new friends, learn new skills and make a difference. You’ll become an important part of our team and we’ll support you throughout. All training and equipment (inc. ppe) will be provided.

Volunteers at Fearon Hall support everything we do and we simply couldn’t function without your valuable help. You will be working as part of our wider team in ensuring that our safe, warm space is a welcoming and friendly space at all times and above anything else.

We currently have two volunteering roles that we’re looking to fill:

Reception/Meet and Greet

The reception at Fearon Hall is our first port of call to all visitors. Visitors sign in as a matter of Health & Safety, the signing in sheet is also our data collection for monitoring. A friendly welcome is essential and signposting is offered as necessary. The main line telephone is situated in our reception area, calls are taken here and either transferred or messages taken.

Tasks:

  • Meet and greet. Sign post as necessary.
  • Answer telephone as required.
  • Collate and record sign in/data sheets (weekly).
  • Photocopy sign in/data sheets and keep topped up in the file.
  • Ensure reception area is kept clear & tidy.
  • Support other areas during quiet periods.

Fearon Hall is open from Tuesday to Friday 9am-2pm and we ask that you offer time for 3-4 hrs on a regular basis.

Café in the Hall Support

The café area is the hub of the Hall. The busy working kitchen prepares fresh food to order from our menu. A friendly welcome is essential at our counter where orders are taken.

Tasks:

  • Food prep (chopping, peeling etc.).
  • Counter service (taking orders and preparing hot beverages).
  • Serving food to tables.
  • Clearing and cleaning tables.
  • Loading and unloading the dishwasher.
  • Hand dishwashing.
  • Occasional baking during quiet periods and as required.

The Café in hall is open from Tuesday to Friday 9am-2pm and we ask that you offer 3-4 hrs of your time on a regular basis, particularly covering busy periods.
