Gaming Group at Fearon Hall helping to reduce social isolation for men

Apr 30, 2026

Our Tabletop Games Group for Men runs every Friday at Fearon Hall between 11am and 12noon. The group offers an opportunity for men to come together in a safe space to chat and play games.  By combining social interaction with a shared playful activity and a relaxed environment, conversations can develop naturally, and new friends can be made.

Gaming provides a common ground, helping to remove the pressure often associated with traditional support settings. Whether it’s cooperative gameplay or light competition, the focus on a shared goal fosters connection and camaraderie. Over time, this can lead to stronger friendships and a sense of belonging – both key factors in improving mental wellbeing.

Importantly, gaming groups can help reduce feelings of isolation. Regular meetups give men something to look forward to, encouraging routine and consistency. These sessions can also become a gateway for deeper conversations, as trust builds within the group.

Additionally, gaming can relieve stress and provide a healthy escape from everyday pressures. When combined with peer support, it becomes more than just entertainment – it becomes a tool for resilience.

Ultimately, men’s gaming groups offer a powerful blend of connection, support, and enjoyment, helping men feel seen, heard, and less alone.

The group is run with the help of our Milo, our Local Area Coordinator, and Sarah from the NHS. Find out more about Local Area Coordination here.
